POP Tektonism is a sound performance project created by visual artist Lykourgos Porfyris. Starting in 2012, POP Tektonism has been consistently attempting to provoke the rockstar-popstar attitude, in terms of behavior and ideology. His performances are notorious for their explicit sound design and profane aesthetics while exploring the stereotypes of elitism, racism, or sexism as depicted in music lifestyles. Audial noise imitating pop music delivered by shocking vocals reveals cliché routines as seen by notorious pop and rock idols. While POP Tektonism’s voice sounds like a shrieking string instrument, his movements are prone to create a stimulating feel of discomfort in the audience. Behind the lust of POP Tektonism to stultify and deconstruct the rock and pop spectrum, lurks an unfulfilled childhood dream: BEING THE MOST FABULOUS POP IDOL EVER.
